Music is sound and action.  Thus, the action of sound creates a story.  The characters within the story is expressed through the vibrations of sounds, such as drums, piano, sax, bass, and words/vocals.  In other words, the vibration of sounds creates form, meaning, and the art of music.

Assignment:  Write a two-page paper on your favorite artist.  Discuss why you like the artist’s music.

Choose one song from that artist.  Discuss the subject matter of the song you chose as it relates to feelings (what type of feeling does the song evoke).

Discuss the structure of the song (melody, harmony, rhythm, and dynamics).  Think about how does the dynamics of the song creates a mood.  What kind of rhythm is used.  How does the harmony of the song affects your perception.  How does the melody shape the beginning, middle, and end of the song’s story

Conclude your paper with a discussion of the message that song communicates.

The assignment/presentation is due March 12th. Remember ,bring the song of your choice to be included in your presentation 

Music is known to be the most POWERFUL of all the arts.  This is because the sounds/vibrations of music creates an involuntary response and/or reaction that is pleasant or unpleasant.
