Psychology 101: Stress and You

Stress is a mental and physical condition.  Stress causes bodily changes that occurs in the autonomic nervous system.  These changes affects information to and from the internal organs and glands, such as heart rate, digestion, perspiration, and emotions.   In other words, stress affects how individual respond, act, and think.

Assignment: Write a two-page paper based on the following:

Create a perceptual feature of your stress.  Use lines to create an image of your stress.  What colors represent your stress?    Describe the sensations of what your stress feels like?

Discuss how stress affects the brain and behavior.

Discuss how the Cognitive Theory and Positive Psychology can be used to change the physical and mental energies of stress.

Discuss and describe ways of coping with stress

Conclude the paper with a discussion of what you have learned about yourself and stress. Have your perception of stress changed?  Explain your response

The assignment/presentation is due March 10th.  The assignment is worth 15 points.  Points are based on the use of terminology, structure of paper, and grammar.
